Bio: Peter Haygarth has always had a fascination for wildlife and in particular, African wildlife. He left school to join the RAF and then went on to be a Police Officer. Whilst serving for Durham Constabulary, he studied photography at his local college for over 4 years and achieved his City & Guilds qualification before later achieving a certificate of education. In 2007, Peter went on his first trip to Africa and has since been returning at every opportunity. In 2019, one of his photographs was ‘Highly Commended’ at the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards, run by the Natural History Museum in London. The same photo being one of 100 photographers receiving recognition from the 48,000 entries. It was also selected from this exhibition to be 1 of 18 to be displayed in the State Room in Number 10 Downing Street.
